Introduction

Ms Kate Macfarlane joined NCIS in November 2013 as the Project Coordinator for the ARC Linkage project 'Serving Our Country: a history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the defence of Australia'.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) and Asian Studies (Mandarin Chinese) with Honours from The Australian National University. She has also completed a year of Chinese language studies at the Beijing Language and Cultural University.

Biography

Kate Macfarlane has been an ANU staff member since 2009. For a number of years she worked for Professor John Braithwaite on the long-term project 'Peacebuilding Compared', at the Regulatory Institutions Network (RegNet), where she provided research and administrative support. Kate has also worked in Beijing, China in the non-governmental organisations (NGO) development sector.

Scholarly interests

Kate has a particular interest in International Relations, human rights, engagement, culture and history.
